The goal of SunFlight Solo program is for all qualified students to fly solo under the 14 CFR Part 61 Flight Training Curriculum by the end of the program¹. Areas of study include air traffic control, meteorology, navigation and Federal Aviation Regulations. The fundamentals learned in this program give students an advantage when they enroll into the SunFlight Private Pilot program.
Students must be 16 years old prior to the end of the program. All participants must obtain an FAA Medical/Student Pilot Certificate².
Tuition³ includes supervised housing, on-campus meals, ground lab instruction, flight materials and books.
*The Solo flight is not guaranteed. It is based on each students' abilities and unforeseen circumstances, such as weather. In the event of a cancelled flight, we will do our absolute best to modify remaining flights and adjust the schedule to accommodate previously scheduled flight time.

¹A qualified student is determined by the regulations set by the FAA, the discretion of the student’s flight instructor and University faculty.
²Student must possess a FAA Medical and a Student Pilot Certificate. The K-12 Education Outreach office will email directions for the Student Pilot Certificate upon receipt of your application.
³The tuition includes a deposit toward the flight fees. Total flight costs vary and are dependent upon the student’s abilities. Flight/Instruction fees will be due at the completion of each lesson.

International Students
In addition to the required application process, non-U.S. citizens applying to the Aerospace College Credit, Flight Exploration, Aviation Voyage, SunFlight Solo, SunFlight Private Pilot, and SunFlight Custom camps are required to fill out the International Student Affidavit of Financial Support. Our office will send this affidavit via email.
