Computer, Electrical & Software Engineering - Near Space Research

Computer, Electrical, & Software Engineering - Near Space Research

Interested in Aerospace and Computer Engineering?

This pre-college program combines the studies of computer, electrical, and software engineering to real world aerospace application. Students build and launch a payload on a high-altitude balloon flight that will go to the edge of outer space. On launch day, participants and instructors follow the progress of the weather balloon by vehicle to retrieve the payload at its final destination on the ground. After flight completion, students will analyze the data to gain an understating of the near-space environment. Classes will include payload design, soldering, circuit design, payload construction, data analysis, and a chamber test.

We will host a graduation lunch on the last day of the program, which parents/families are welcome and encouraged to attend.

For: High School Students ages 15-18 who are interested in computer, electrical, and software engineering and space.

Program Fee: $1,125

Program Dates: Sunday, June 11, 2017- Friday, June 16, 2017

Boeing Scholarship Applications for 2017 are open!

The Boeing High School Scholars Program is a highly selective program that provides high school students with an opportunity to experience college level course work in engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with other promising engineering peers. The Boeing Corporation in partnership with ERAU Prescott offers full or partial scholarships to cover the cost of an engineering summer program.

Your Boeing Scholarship application does not secure or hold a spot for you. If you wish to guarantee a spot in any specific engineering program, you will also need to pay the deposit, complete the registration packet forms, as well as submit the Boeing application.

If a student is selected to receive a Boeing Scholarship, deposits will be refunded and other non-deposit payments may be refunded according to the total amount of scholarship awarded in conjunction with the payment that we received and the total cost of the program.

If students are not selected to receive a scholarship and wish to cancel their registration, deposits will be refunded upon request, within 30 days of notification of the Boeing Scholarship application decision.

Summer Overnight Camps

Live on campus like Embry-Riddle students and explore career possibilities in flight, mechanical engineering, global security, or what it is like to be a NASA astronaut.

Embry-Riddle's overnight summer programs at the Daytona Beach Campus and Prescott Campus introduce the technology of today to the aviators, engineers, and astronauts of tomorrow.

Students live in on-campus dormitories — under the supervision of approved counselors — and share their initial experience of University living with other young people near their age
